Student Council plans a game of tug-of-war for the Snow Days pep fest.

Saint Agnes students have an opportunity to represent and serve the student body and school community by participating on Student Council. Members will organize and assist with school spirit and service events and as well as represent the student body to the administration. 

Mission & Purpose

  1. To establish high standards of conduct in leadership, honesty, loyalty, courtesy to enable the high school students at Saint Agnes School to live out the gospel values in a democratic setting

  2. To enlist the interest and support of the purposes and values of the school as a whole

  3. To consider policies, activities and changes recommended by the students

  4. To make recommendations for the welfare of the student body to the administration

  5. To unite all classes and school organizations in support of the interests and purposes of the school as a whole

  6. To create and foster a spirit of understanding and cooperation between students, administration and faculty

  7. To assist the administration on any matters requested of us and to carry out our duties to the best of our abilities 

Requirements to run for Student Council

Saint Agnes Student Council members are expected to be in good academic standing and abide by the same rules that are expected of any student participating in any Minnesota State High School League Activity (in addition to what is expected per the Saint Agnes’ Student Handbook).  All students must provide a recommendation from a teacher.  To be considered for Student Council President students must have served on the student council for at least one year previously (starting 2017-18).  All students interested in running for office must sign up with the faculty adviser and turn in all documents (teacher recommendation, sign up form) in a timely fashion.

Student Membership

  • Freshmen- Three Representatives

  • Sophomores-Four Representatives

  • Juniors-Five Representatives

  • Seniors- Six Representatives (President/Vice-President; Four At-Large Members)

Attendance & Participation

Saint Agnes Student Council members are expected to attend all scheduled meetings and assist at all sponsored events. Any planned absences or conflicts must be cleared with the Faculty Adviser or Student Council President/Vice President. Chronic absences will result in dismissal from Student Council, which is at the discretion of the Faculty Adviser & Dean of Students.

Student Council President and Vice-President

The  Student Council President will work directly with the faculty adviser on all Student Council items; call and facilitate any meetings with the entire Student Council body; create meeting agendas and communicate the agenda with the entire council, represent Student Council at other student club and organization meetings that influence the student life of the Saint Agnes’ community; and represent the student body and their interests at administrative or faculty meetings. The Student Council Vice-President will assist the President with all his or her duties and will also take member attendance at meetings, take minutes during meetings and distribute meeting minutes to the entire council.  Both the President and Vice-President will be class liaisons to the Alumni Office upon graduation. 

9th Grade Class Representatives

The primary role of the 9th grade Student Council Class Representatives is to help their classmates become familiar and comfortable with the Saint Agnes high school community and begin to build class spirit. The 9th grade Student Council Class Representatives are in charge of the following activities:

  • Decorating halls during Homecoming and Snow weeks

  • One convocation during Snow week

  • Preparing for and cleaning up after dances

  • Helping lead convocation throughout the year

  • Assisting with admissions events

  • One member represented on service club

  • Building school spirit at athletic and fine arts events

  • Assisting with all other Student Council events

10th Grade Class Representatives

The primary role of the 10th grade Student Council Class Representatives is to coordinate events to instill school pride and promote student support at all Aggie events. The 10th grade Student Council Class Representatives are in charge of the following activities:

  • Decorating halls during Homecoming and Snow weeks

  • Preparing for and cleaning up after dances

  • One convocation during Homecoming Week

  • One convocation during Snow week

  • Helping lead convocation throughout the year

  • Assisting with admissions events

  • Bulletin Boards/communication during months of March, April and May

  • One member represented on service club

  • Building school spirit at athletic and fine arts events

  • Assisting with all other Student Council events

11th Grade Class Representatives

The primary role of the 11th grade Student Council Class Representatives is to coordinate events to instill school pride and promote student support at all Aggie events. The 11th grade Student Council Class Representatives are in charge of the following activities:

  • Decorating halls during Homecoming and Snow weeks

  • Preparing for and cleaning up after dances

  • One assembly during Homecoming Week

  • Leading Snow week events

  • One assembly during Snow Week

  • Bulletin Boards/ communication during months of December, January, February

  • Helping lead convocation throughout the year

  • Assisting with admissions events

  • One member represented on service club

  • Building school spirit at athletic and fine arts events

  • Leading and assisting with all other Student Council events

12th Grade Class Representatives

The 12th Grade Student Council Class Representatives will unite and support their class members throughout their final year of high school to make it as enjoyable and memorable as possible. The 12th Grade Student Council Class Representatives are in charge of the following events:

  • Decorating Halls during Homecoming and Snow weeks

  • Preparing for and cleaning up after dances

  • Leading Homecoming Week events

  • Homecoming T-shirt sales

  • One assembly during Homecoming Week

  • One assembly during Snow Week

  • Bulletin Boards/ communication during months of August, September, October, and November

  • Helping lead convocation throughout the year

  • Assisting with admissions events

  • One member represented on service club

  • Building school spirit at athletic and fine arts events

  • Leading and assisting with all other Student Council events
