At our first all-school Mass of the year, each of our faculty members made a pledge of fidelity in accordance with the Mandatum in Ex Corde Ecclesiae. Saint Agnes School’s extraordinary faculty places such value on faith, reason, and virtue that they publicly pledge to teach our students these truths in love.
Teachers of all subjects, grades, and disciplines offered this pledge: “I hereby declare my role and responsibility as a teacher at Saint Agnes School. As a teacher in a Catholic school, I am committed to respect and reasonably defend the Catholic faith in speech and action, especially as it relates to faith and morals, and will refrain from putting forth as Catholic teaching anything contrary to the Church’s Magisterium.”
Teachers of theology and religion offered this pledge: “I hereby declare my role and responsibility as a teacher of a theological discipline within the full communion of the Church. As a teacher of a theological discipline, therefore, I am committed to witness to authentic Catholic doctrine in the way I speak and act, and to refrain from putting forth as Catholic teaching anything contrary to the Church’s Magisterium.”
Our faculty members made this pledge during the Mass of the Holy Spirit, which Archbishop Hebda celebrated on Thursday, September 6. This first P-12 Mass of the school year concluded with the dedication and blessing of the newly renovated Convent.
