Catholic Culture
We believe that it is our mission to provide students with a foundation by which they are truly made free to seek truth and live joyful, productive lives informed by reason and virtue in order to help bear witness to the kingdom of God in our day. We believe that the ultimate purpose of a Catholic school is to bring souls to Christ through His Church. As a school, we achieve this purpose when we develop our students’ intellects and when we provide them with foundational principles that they can later employ to live good, fulfilled, and holy lives. Thus, at its core, the purpose of Saint Agnes School is to form in each of our students a Catholic mind and heart. (The Educational Philosophy of Saint Agnes School, 2016, p. 1).
Sacramental Life
Committed to fostering the sacramental life, we offer our students, staff, and faculty frequent opportunities to participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and the celebration of the Sacrament of Penance. Other examples of the rich and diverse devotional life our students experience include use of Latin in the liturgy, participation in the Rosary, the Stations of the Cross, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, enrollment in the Scapular, and Adoration and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
Saint Agnes families and friends are always most welcome to join us for Mass at the Church of Saint Agnes.
Daily Mass at the Church of Saint Agnes is also offered each weekday morning at 6:30 AM, Friday evenings at 5:15 PM, and (the long-standing Latin Sung Mass) on Saturday mornings at 8:00 AM.
Serving a Culture of Life
We offer our students an array of opportunities to serve others and promote respect for the dignity of life. These activities include:
- Annual class retreats in the junior and senior high school
- Participation in civic events that impact issues of faith and the defense of life
- Opportunities to volunteer with Feed My Starving Children and Habitat for Humanity
- Blood drives, clothing drives, and food drives throughout the school year
- Upper School Clubs devoted to service, respect for life, and prayer
Fostering Vocations
Over the years, we have been blessed to have produced a significant number of vocations to the priesthood and religious life, as well as many fruitful marriages within our alumni. Our students daily witness the joyful lives of many clergy and religious alongside healthy models of Christian family life.
Parish-Sponsored School
We are the only parish-sponsored Preschool-12th Grade Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul & Minneapolis. Originally founded by Austro-Hungarian immigrants in1887, the Church of Saint Agnes today draws families from throughout the Twin Cities area and beyond. Our parish is nationally recognized for the quality and beauty of its sacred music and liturgies. We celebrate many opportunities to participate in the full sacramental and devotional life of the Church on one parish and school campus.
