The Sister Mary Richard Scholarship will be awarded annually to two incoming freshman students at Saint Agnes School. The candidates must have a demonstrated financial need and a desire to embrace the values of the Catholic faith. The scholarship will provide up to 50% of the 9th grade tuition and is renewable for three additional years.

Student Criteria and Requirements

  1. Considered full need through the financial aid process (TADS) of Saint Agnes School.
  2. 3.0 grade point average in the 7th and 8th grade.
  3. The student’s grade school principal provides a recommendation.
  4. The student completes a 300-word essay as to “Why I want a Catholic education.” See essay requirement.
  5. The applicant must meet all Saint Agnes School admission criteria.
  6. The student must maintain a grade point average of 3.0, or better.
  7. The student and parent/guardian complete a release of information form.
  8. The student submits a year-end reflection letter of past academic year.
  9. The student responds promptly and completes all requested information on-time.

The essay must be 300 words and will be reviewed for content, clarity and general 8th grade writing skill. By submitting this essay, you are promising that it is your own work. Feel free to have an adult review your final draft.

Your essay should answer “Why do you want a Catholic education?” and how one or more of the following plays a role in your life: 1. Faith 2. Family 3. Community 4. Education

Essay is due by February 28, 2022

Sponsors Requirements:

  1. Sponsor reviews applications and selects recipients the first quarter of the calendar year.
  2. Sponsor reviews scholarship recipient’s GPA and academic achievements for yearly renewal.
  3. Tuition payments are made directly to Saint Agnes School by sponsor.
  4. Sponsor receives grade updates mid-year and at the end of each school year.
  5.  Sponsor has an in-person meeting with scholarship finalists prior to receiving scholarship followed by a minimum of one yearly face to face until graduation.
  6. Saint Agnes School provides sponsor an update on scholarship recipient’s post-graduation plans.
  7. The Sister Mary Richard Scholarship is not transferable to another school.

*Public school students are eligible to apply if they are active in the above parishes and meet the criteria for admission and submit a parish recommendation.
